About

Hello! I'm Chris. Welcome to Taste Pinas.
I grew up in a Filipino household where the smell of adobo, sinigang , and caldereta was a daily invitation to the kitchen. Over time, these dishes became more than food, they became stories, memories, and a part of who I am.
Here at Taste Pinas, I share those stories and recipes with you. My mission? To preserve and celebrate the rich flavors of the Philippines: one recipe, one photo, one kitchen moment at a time.

My Experience & Expertise
- I've been cooking on and off for 20+ years
- I've tested dozens of Filipino dishes across different regions, from Luzon to Visayas to Mindanao.
- I've traveled across Southeast Asia to study and taste their food.
- I used to own and run a small restaurant in the Philippines, which got affected by the pandemic
Why Taste Pinas?
The name "Taste Pinas" was born from the idea that taste isn't just flavor, it's culture, heritage, community. Pinas (short for Pilipinas) calls back home, and Taste invites you in.
It's more than just recipes. It's about cooking together, sharing food stories, and building a Filipino digital kitchen.
My Promise to You
- I value clarity and readability, ingredients listed clearly, instructions broken into steps.
- I prioritize trust and transparency. If I haven't tested a recipe, I'll say so. If I promote a product, I'll disclose affiliate status.
- I strive for inclusion. Whether you're cooking in Cebu, Manila, New York, or London, I'll provide context so that you can cook anywhere.
More About Me
- I grew up in Pilar, Bataan. My grandparents had a bakery back in the '90s. I spent most of my childhood there. I was always hanging around the kitchen, watching my Lola Uma bake and cook. She taught me everything: how to make lumpia, when the rice is ready, how to make the best adobo.
- My Mama studied culinary, too, so I learned from her as well.
- Now I live in Metro Manila, but I travel a lot for food. I've been to Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau and Cambodia just to try their food.
- I have two cats: Minzy and Junior. They don't help me cook, but they watch me from the kitchen counter.
